ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE
NEW 4.7-LITER FLEX FUEL V
Durango offers a new E (ethanol)-compatible 4.7-liter V engine with more horsepower (303hp) and more torque (330 lb-ft) than the previous engine. This engine uses E85, regular gas or a combination of both. E85 is an alternative fuel blend that is comprised of 85% ethanol and 15% petroleum. The benefit is less drain on nonrenewable energy sources and a positive economic impact on corn farmers.
3.7-LITER MAGNUM V6
This fuel-efficient V6 engine is capable of pumping out 210 horsepower and 235 lb-ft of torque at 4,000rpm. |
PROTECTION
1. ADVANCED MULTISTAGE DRIVER AND FRONT-PASSENGER AIR BAGS
Standard advance multistage driver and front passenger air bags provide nearly instantaneous occupant protection by matching air bags output to crash severity.
2. SUPPLEMENT SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS
With roll-sensing technology, these bags deploy from the headliner to provide three rows of side impact protection to outboard occupants.
3. ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAM (ESP)
ESP assist drivers in maintaining control of the vehicle during extreme steering maneuvers. ESP is equipped with Electronics Roll Mitigation and Trailer Sway Control. The system detects "sway" unique to trailering and then engages Durango's brakes to slow the vehicle down.
4. TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING WARNING LAMP/DISPLAY
All Durango models include a Tire Pressure Monitoring Warning Lamp that helps maintain proper and safe tire pressure by flashing a warning lamp to alert driver to low-pressure situation.
5. HYDROFORMED FRAME
The front and rear sections of this frame are hydroformed to provide increased stiffness and dimensional control contributing to Durango's outstanding handling and smooth ride
6. PARKVIEW REAR BACK-UP CAMERA
An available camera on Durango's liftgate displays a rearview video image on the radio screen while driving in reverse. The benefit is better rearward visibility for the driver when backing up and the alert of potential obstacles. |
